If you don't know yet, then day and night cycle has been added to Mine Wars for some time now (Thanks Jacob), and if you have been playing Mine Wars at night, and you had your lightsabers out then you probably noticed something "odd". They don't glow at night. Actually, they don't glow at all. I never really noticed it up until the first night, and I'm going to be honest, they look a bit weird. They look like those cheap lightsaber toys you'd get from Walmart. Me and others have been thinking that it'd be cool to see our lightsabers glow, and not only at night.

I'd like to start off by showing you a screenshot of what lightsabers currently look like at night: https://gyazo.com/077fec9a5cba1c83d24ceae4750471eb
As you can see, it doesn't look that good. Now, I know that this isn't very important change, and it doesn't affect the gameplay in any way shape or form, but I'd like to think that this is a nice little quality of life change, that will make the game look more pleasing, just like the day and night cycle.

I've been wondering how you guys (Owners and Developers) can implement this, and I came up with my own idea, and I combined it with Lord_Zackarius idea. So here's the idea as a whole.

    My idea
I found this setting in Video Settings called, "Dynamic Lights". And when I set it to Fancy, it enables light emitting items, like torch or redstone torch, to illuminate an area around you when held in your hand, or when it's dropped on the ground. Here's the setting: https://gyazo.com/00dea18c65d938f8923d02621074c34d
I was thinking, that when we would hold our lightsabers in our hands, a small area around us should illuminate like it does with this setting, especially at night. This setting is purely an example of what it would look like, and here are some screenshots to show how much a redstone torch and a normal torch illuminate around you. As you will see, the redstone torch has a weaker glow, whereas the normal torch is brighter.

Redstone Torch: https://gyazo.com/1e9a48d632995763616ea77996f3ec5b (While in your hand) https://gyazo.com/b9d84e3d1602fe60cf95185a5587b718 (Area around you)

Normal Torch: https://gyazo.com/84740a95451e140bf891f01d89dec119 (While in your hand) https://gyazo.com/f36790be902dd5571c4a80141a18ecb9 (Area around you)

I think having the ground around you illuminated at night would look cool when holding you lightsaber out, but... here's the issue. If you have a bad PC, your computer may not be able to handle this setting, that's why there's another setting called "Fast". The difference is that Fancy illuminates the area around you in real time, and Fast does it every 500ms. But good news, your PC must be very bad for this to affect you.

    Zackarius Idea
Zack's idea was to add the "Spectral Arrow" effect to the edges of the lightsaber to make it glow. If you're not familiar with the Spectral Arrow effect, then this is what it looks like when you shoot a mob (a pig in this example) with a Spectral Arrow:

    With hitboxes: https://gyazo.com/ff2c6e949390bd0cf3a2d9a65ac058eb

    Without hitboxes: https://gyazo.com/0a6865775fb2e4e3acc48285e9d927f6

Real quick, before you say I'm using mods to give me hitboxes, no, I'm not. If you press F3 and B at the same time, it'll turn on hitboxes which help you in PvP. As far as I know this is allowed (last time I checked was 3 years ago on this server), as it is part of Minecraft, and no mods are needed for this.

Anyway, Zack wanted to simply put this white glow on the outside of the lightsabers and that's how they would glow. Personally I have no idea how he imagines it, but I decided to do a little photo editing and see if I can make the lightsabers glow with the Spectral Arrow effect, please excuse my professional photo editing: https://gyazo.com/b4a8ff8373b798d3903ce84c97c52943
This shows the glow being white like the Spectral Arrow effect. I also made the lightsabers color a bit brighter, and I only edited the yellow saber. He probably meant it to glow with whatever's the color of the saber, so let's see what it would look like if the glow was yellow instead of white: https://gyazo.com/c49b8027e5330e225b27d39cb33630a5

I know this looks awful, but that's because I suck at editing photos, I hope that this gives you an idea of what he meant, and of course, in game this would very likely look better because it would be done by people that are more skilled than me when it comes to these types of things.

Lastly, I'd like to say that with both of these ideas combined, if it would be possible to add both of them then it would be phenomenal. I know that this won't be as simple as the day and night cycle, that thing was just one simple command, and this isn't. But I really would want to see something like this implemented in the near (hopefully) future. If any of you reading this need a bit more info on one of these ideas, or are a bit confused by something then make sure to leave your comment below about your issue/question and I'll try my best to answer it.

    Correct images for my idea:
i think it would be pretty cool for the outline to only show up on a specific item you are holding, which would be the lightsaber, i know it would make it so that you could see the person through walls but i am sure you can make it so that does not happen through plugins or something
it is a cool idea and i really do hope it gets added to mine wars!

While you have Dynamic Lighting, not all of us do.
I was digging around the options and cannot find it in Vanilla. I can in some modpacks, however.

So how do you have it?

Hmmm, I guess it could be Optifine, because Optifine gives you more video settings.

This is a great idea! This still would be difficult for the developers but I think it would be a great addition! It would make the game feel and look a little more real, but then again it would be a little strange because I’m not sure how they would add a colored glow to the ground and if for every light saber color, they had the same glow it might look kind of odd! Overall I think it’s a great idea tho!
